Geotechnical was founded in Singapore in 1984 and
began work assisting contractors building the first phase of Singapore's underground
rapid transit system. At that time, we were heavily involved with tunnelling
work in the central business district, most of which was complete by 1988.
Other assignments followed which were related to the development of quarries
on the nearby Indonesian islands. These were being developed as aggregate
sources for Singapore.
From 1988 to 1995 we were
based in Jakarta, and participated with several contractors working on hydroelectric
and infrastructure projects which were being actively developed in Indonesia
during this period. In 1995 we relocated once more to Hong Kong where we are
currently based.
Since relocating we have worked with contractors building the new airport
railway and underground sewerage system but in recent years our work has expanded
outside Hong Kong with new work in Vietnam, Indonesia, and Taiwan.
We
are a group of practical engineers and geologists, who are very aware of the
concerns of contractors who encounter geotechnical difficulties during their
work.
Such contractors are our main clients. We know they sometimes need expert
advice and support when geological conditions are not as expected.
We can provide that support.
